About this Recovery House

Seed Sower Manor is a recovery residence for women and children on 4th Avenue in Montgomery, West Virginia, in Fayette County. Sixteen beds are certified at Level 3 by the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences, at $120 a week including a meal fee and programming.

A Sixteen-Bed Sober Living Home for Mothers

This is the largest of Seed Sower's four residences and one of the biggest family recovery housing programs in southern West Virginia. Women live here with their children. Sixteen beds means a mother arriving from treatment finds other women managing the same combination of school runs, court dates and early recovery, which is a different household from one where she would be the only parent.

What Level 3 Certification Establishes

Level 3 in West Virginia's framework describes supervised recovery housing with administrative oversight and structured daily programming, above peer-run housing and below clinically staffed residences. The certification requires published rules disclosed in writing before entry, a written relapse and discharge policy, and complaints reviewed outside the program's own management. Where children live in a residence, that external route carries particular weight.

What the Weekly Fee Covers

Residents pay $120 a week, published as including a $45 meal fee and a $75 programming fee. Breaking out the charge that way tells an applicant what she is buying, and it makes the food component visible for anyone calculating against SNAP benefits.

Montgomery, Fayette County and the Upper Kanawha Valley

Montgomery sits on the Kanawha River where Fayette County meets Kanawha County, on the old US 60 route between Charleston and the New River Gorge. Fayetteville is the county seat, and Charleston, with the family court, the hospitals and the caseworkers, is about thirty miles downriver. For a mother in an abuse and neglect proceeding, distance to the court is not an abstraction, and Montgomery sits inside a reachable radius of both Charleston and Beckley.

The Other Seed Sower Recovery Homes

The operator runs three further residences, in Alderson, Beckley and Rainelle, at both Level 3 and Level 2. A woman ready for lighter structure can move inside the organization.
