About this Recovery House

Brian's Safehouse is a men's recovery residence on Reality Road in Mount Hope, West Virginia, in Raleigh County. Ten men live here in a twelve-month program carrying Level 3 certification from the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences.

A Twelve-Month Men's Sober Living Program

The twelve-month commitment is the defining fact of this residence. Most sober living in West Virginia operates month to month with no stated end point, which leaves a resident planning in thirty-day increments. A year-long program sets a horizon a man can build around: a job that survives a probation period, a court schedule seen through, a savings figure that becomes realistic.

What Level 3 Certification Establishes

Level 3 in West Virginia's framework describes supervised recovery housing with an organizational structure, administrative oversight and structured programming, distinct from peer-run housing below it and clinically staffed residences above. Certification obliges the program to publish its rules in writing before entry, hold a written relapse and discharge policy, and answer complaints through a process outside its own management.

What Residents Pay

There is no deposit. Residents pay thirty percent of their income with a cap of $175 a week, and scholarships are available. SNAP benefits cover food, or $50 a week where a resident has none. New residents meeting federal low-income guidelines can have their first forty-five days covered by a Recovery Housing Program voucher, which means entering the program can cost nothing at all.

Medication Policy at This Raleigh County Sober House

Vivitrol is accepted. It is a monthly injectable opioid antagonist, which fits an abstinence-based twelve-month program, and a man arriving on buprenorphine or methadone should raise his treatment plan before applying.

Mount Hope and Southern West Virginia Recovery Housing

Mount Hope sits in northern Raleigh County between Beckley and the New River Gorge, an old coal town on the Route 19 corridor. Beckley is the county seat about fifteen miles south, holding the courthouse, Raleigh General Hospital and the region's outpatient providers. The southern coalfields carry West Virginia's highest overdose rates and its thinnest treatment infrastructure, which is why a campus of six certified residences in one small town matters well beyond its bed count.

Moving On Within Brian's Safehouse

Men who complete this program move into Stone House or Freeman's Place, graduate residences on the same campus with lower fees and lighter structure. Nothing about the location, the staff or the peer group changes at the transition.
