About this Recovery House

Recovery Point Apartments is a coed sober living residence on Madison Avenue in Huntington, West Virginia, in Cabell County. Thirty residents live in the building at $150 a week for a private bedroom or $100 a week for a shared one, under Level 1 certification from the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences.

Apartment-Style Recovery Housing in Huntington

This is an apartment residence, and the difference from a group house is the whole point. A resident has a bedroom, a rent figure and a set of neighbors in recovery, which is much closer to the housing they will hold next than a program bed is. Thirty people live in the building, men and women.

What Level 1 Certification Establishes

Level 1 is the lightest tier the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences recognizes. It describes peer-run housing with minimal oversight, house rules set and enforced largely by residents, and no on-site staffing requirement. That is the correct designation for a building of independent apartments and it signals accurately who the residence suits: someone stable, employed and near the end of a structured program.

Medication-Assisted Recovery at This Cabell County Sober Living Home

Medication for opioid use disorder is accepted, as it is at every Recovery Point address. In apartment-style housing where residents manage their own schedules, that policy simply removes an obstacle that has no reason to exist.

Madison Avenue and Huntington's West End

Madison Avenue runs through Huntington's west end, the older residential and industrial district beyond downtown toward Ceredo and Kenova. Rents are lower on this side of the city and the Tri-State Transit Authority runs the corridor into the center, where the Cabell County Courthouse, Marshall University and Cabell Huntington Hospital sit. For a resident paying weekly out of a paycheck, the west end is where the arithmetic works.

The Rest of the Recovery Point Recovery Homes

The organization runs hundred-bed long-term programs in Huntington and Charleston, sixty and eighty-bed programs in Bluefield and Parkersburg, and small phase houses attached to three of them. This building sits at the far end of that system, where structure has mostly given way to independence.
