About this Recovery House

Rea of Hope New Life Apartments 2 is a women's sober living residence on Beauregard Street in Charleston, West Virginia, the seat of Kanawha County. Nine women live in the building at $133 a week, certified at Level 1 by the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences.

A Nine-Bed Women's Recovery Residence on Beauregard Street

This building sits a few doors from the operator's larger apartment residence and from Sandy's House, its four-bed group home. Nine women live here in apartment-style housing. The concentration on one block gives residents an unusual thing in West Virginia recovery housing: a neighborhood where most of the women nearby are also in recovery and most of them are with the same organization.

Level 1 Certification and Independent Living

Level 1 describes peer-run recovery housing with light oversight, where residents carry the rules themselves and no staff presence is required on site. It is the appropriate tier for apartments and it signals accurately who the residence suits: a woman who is working, stable, and closer to independent housing than to a structured program.

What the Weekly Charge Covers

The $133 weekly fee is broken out as $56 for food and $77 for operating costs, with EBT accepted for the food portion. Every Rea of Hope address uses the same schedule.

Kanawha County Recovery Housing in the East End

Charleston's East End runs from the downtown edge out past the state Capitol, a dense older residential district with its own commercial strip and direct bus service into the city center. The Kanawha County Courthouse, the family court and Charleston Area Medical Center are all inside a short ride. Kanawha County holds the largest concentration of certified recovery residences in West Virginia, and women's beds in the capital are among the most sought after in the state.
