Housing for Mothers Seeking to Regain Custody

The Mother-Child Reunification Program offers reunification support, advocacy and housing to women who have lost custody of their children. Amos House designed MCRP for families whose instability has several causes at once, and gives mothers and children a structured setting in which to start building a stable future. Participants have staffing available around the clock and a continuous schedule of structured activity. Women in MCRP are working toward full custody.

MCRP on the RICARES Roster

RICARES publishes MCRP by name, something it does for only a small share of Rhode Island's certified houses, and records it as an Amos House women's residence in Providence at NARR Level 2. RICARES holds the NARR affiliation for Rhode Island and is the certifier the state designates.

The Amos House Setting Around MCRP

MCRP is one of two Amos House reunification programs, the other being the Fatherhood Program for fathers seeking visitation or custody. Together they reach roughly twenty-five parents and forty children a year. Amos House also runs certified recovery houses for women elsewhere in Providence, along with training programs and a clinic offering primary care, mental health care and addiction treatment.
