An Accessible House by Design

Rogers Home rebuilt the Wakefield property with accessibility as a stated goal. A ramp runs from the parking lot, and the first floor bathrooms are ADA compliant, so a man arriving in a wheelchair or with a mobility limitation is not turned away by the building itself. Donor support also paid for a new roof during the renovation.

Rooms and Progression

Single and double bedrooms are both available at the Wakefield house, and Rogers Home treats the move between them as part of the program. A two person room is the starting point, on the operator's reasoning that a roommate provides safety and company in early recovery. Senior peers with a demonstrated recovery program can move into a single room as preparation for living alone again.

Weekly Group Work at the Wakefield House

The Wakefield house has a community room that hosts two group therapy and recovery sessions each week, with outside guest speakers brought in on recovery topics and personal improvement tools.

Wakefield and South Kingstown

Wakefield is a village of South Kingstown, which places 28 Columbia Street in Washington County. Most Rhode Island recovery housing sits in the Providence County corridor, well to the north. Rogers Home also keeps housing in Pawtucket and lists an address in Warwick, so a resident moving through the organization can shift between the southern coast and the northern cities.

Our Houses Rogers Home currently operates one house in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Our Pawtucket house is home to fourteen men and that means we are looking to expand. We have purchased another sober living house in Wakefield and are looking forward to renovating it. Live Sober We know that living alone makes dealing with addiction a constant struggle.
