About this Recovery House

Callaway House is a men's sober house in Fulton, Missouri, in Callaway County, operated by Fresh Start Sober Living Programs and accredited by the Missouri Coalition of Recovery Support Providers.

A Men's Sober Living Home in Callaway County

This is the men's side of the operator's 2023 expansion into Fulton, two renovated homes opened after a decade of running recovery housing in Columbia. Before that, men from Callaway County who wanted accredited sober living generally had to leave the county to find it. Staying local keeps a resident near family, near a probation officer and near an employer who already knows him.

What MCRSP Accreditation Means Here

Missouri has no statute governing recovery residences and no agency that inspects them. Accreditation through MCRSP is voluntary and requires published ethics, written disclosure of fees and rules before move-in, a written relapse and discharge policy, and a complaint process that reaches outside the house. In a small county with few options, a residence that has accepted that standard is easy to distinguish from one that has not.

Fulton, Its Institutions and a Recovery Home's Footing

Fulton is the county seat and holds the Callaway County Courthouse, Westminster College, William Woods University and Fulton State Hospital. US 54 runs through it, with Columbia twenty-five miles west and Jefferson City twenty-five miles south. That road is how residents reach the region's larger treatment providers and its larger job market when the town itself does not have what they need.

Recovery Housing Across Two Counties

Fresh Start operates roughly twenty properties in Columbia in Boone County alongside its two Fulton homes, so a resident here belongs to a program with real depth. Respite beds, transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, childcare and a clubhouse all sit inside the same organization, and a move between counties does not mean a new application at a new agency.
