The Rock Ministries Rock House is a men's sober living home on Cross Lanes Drive in Nitro, West Virginia, in Putnam County. Eleven men live here at $125 a week, certified at Level 2 by the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences.

An Eleven-Bed Men's Recovery Home on Cross Lanes Drive

The Rock House sits beside the ministry's thirteen-bed Genesis House on the same street. Eleven residents makes it the smaller of the two, though only slightly, and the pairing gives the block twenty-four certified beds under one operator. Two houses side by side function as one community with two front doors.

Level 2 Certification and Faith-Based Recovery Housing

Level 2 covers monitored recovery housing with structured expectations and clinical care delivered by outside providers. Certification obliges the residence to disclose fees and rules in writing before move-in, keep a written relapse and discharge policy, follow a published code of ethics, and accept complaints reviewed outside the house. Since 2024, West Virginia has required every recovery residence to register with the state and made certification the condition for referrals and public funding.

A $300 entry fee at move-in and $125 a week thereafter.

Medication Policy at This Nitro Sober House

Residents on medication for opioid use disorder are accepted at both of the ministry's addresses.

Putnam County Recovery Housing Between Two Cities

Nitro sits on the Kanawha River at the Putnam and Kanawha county line, halfway along the Interstate 64 corridor between Charleston and Huntington. Winfield is the county seat; Charleston holds the courthouse, the family court and Charleston Area Medical Center twenty minutes east. Putnam County is the fastest-growing county in southern West Virginia and carries comparatively little certified recovery housing, which makes twenty-four beds on one street a substantial local share.
