About this Recovery House

Sparrow's Nest is a women's sober living program on Reality Road in Mount Hope, West Virginia, in Raleigh County. Seven women live here in a twelve-month residence carrying Level 3 certification from the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences, operated by Brian's Safehouse, Inc.

A Twelve-Month Women's Recovery Home in the Southern Coalfields

Seven beds in a year-long women's program is a small number set against the need in southern West Virginia, and it is one of very few such programs in the region. The twelve-month structure is what distinguishes it from month-to-month sober living: a woman entering here is planning a year, which changes what she can attempt with employment, custody and court obligations.

Level 3 Recovery Housing and What It Requires

Level 3 describes supervised recovery housing with administrative oversight and structured daily programming. Certification through the state alliance requires published rules disclosed in writing before entry, a written relapse and discharge policy, and a complaint process reviewed outside the program's own management. Those obligations carry more weight in a twelve-month commitment than in a thirty-day one.

Fees, Scholarships and Vouchers

No deposit is required. Residents pay thirty percent of income to a $175 weekly cap, scholarships are available, and SNAP benefits cover food. New residents meeting federal low-income guidelines can have their first forty-five days covered by a Recovery Housing Program voucher, so intake can cost nothing.

Medication Support at This Mount Hope Recovery Residence

Vivitrol is accepted. As a monthly injectable antagonist it fits the abstinence-based model this program runs, and a woman on a maintenance medication should discuss her treatment plan before applying.

Raleigh County Recovery Homes and the New River Region

Mount Hope lies between Beckley and the New River Gorge on the Route 19 corridor, in the northern half of Raleigh County. Beckley is the county seat, holding the courthouse, Raleigh General Hospital, the Beckley VA Medical Center and most of the region's treatment capacity, fifteen miles south. Certified women's recovery beds are scarce across southern West Virginia, which is why this campus draws from a much wider area than the town it sits in.

Where Graduates Go Next

Women completing this program move into Serenity House or Lilly's Pad, graduate residences on the same campus with lower fees and lighter structure.
