About this Recovery House

Freeman's Place is a men's sober living home on Reality Road in Mount Hope, West Virginia, the largest town of its kind in northern Raleigh County. Four men live here under Level 2 certification from the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences, open to graduates of the twelve-month Brian's Safehouse program.

A Four-Bed Men's Recovery Home on the Safehouse Campus

Four men share this house, each of them a graduate of the operator's year-long Level 3 program. It is one of two men's graduate residences on the property, alongside the three-bed Stone House, which gives the operator somewhere to place a man according to how he lives.

What Graduate Status Establishes

Admission is restricted to people who completed twelve months in the operator's supervised program. That single condition tells a prospective resident more about the household than any list of house rules would: everyone here has held a year, everyone knows the same expectations, and the lighter structure is calibrated to that.

Fees at This Mount Hope Sober House

No deposit is required. Weeks one through four are $100, paid biweekly, then twenty-five percent of income capped at $125 a week. Recovery Housing Program vouchers cover the first forty-five days for new low-income residents.

Medication Policy Across the Campus

Vivitrol is accepted at all six certified residences here.

Raleigh County Recovery Housing and Beckley

Mount Hope sits between Beckley and the New River Gorge on the Route 19 corridor. Beckley is the county seat, holding the Raleigh County Courthouse, Raleigh General Hospital, the Beckley VA Medical Center and most of southern West Virginia's outpatient capacity, about fifteen miles south. The coalfield counties around it carry the highest overdose rates in the country and among the fewest certified beds, which is the context for a six-residence campus in a town of a few thousand people.
