The residence houses women only. Residents work, pay a weekly fee, attend recovery meetings and share the household's chores and meals. The house is accredited by the Missouri Coalition of Recovery Support Providers, Missouri's affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences. Nothing in Missouri law obliges a sober house to seek it. Accreditation puts an operator inside a published ethics code, requires fees and rules in writing before move-in, requires a written relapse and discharge policy, and gives a resident a complaint route that leads outside the building.

Program Structure in This Sober Living Home

New Beginning Sanctuary asks residents to plan on twelve months or longer. Employment, bill paying and volunteering are expected. Drugs and alcohol carry zero tolerance, and access to phones, television and internet is limited. Faith-based and secular pathways are both available, so a resident chooses the framework she will actually use.

Joplin is the largest city in Jasper County and the commercial center for a corner of the state that touches Kansas and Oklahoma. Freeman Health System and Mercy Hospital Joplin, Missouri Southern State University and the I-44 employers are all here, while county court business runs through Carthage.
