Lazarus Recovery Services, Inc. was formed specifically to support people recovering from chemical or emotional life-controlling problems, with a mission centered on providing sober housing along with space to meet in a sober, clean environment. That dual focus, housing plus a place to gather, shapes the house's daily rhythm around fellowship and accountability alongside whatever outside treatment a resident is also receiving.

Not Currently Certified

Lazarus Sober House is not certified by the Massachusetts Alliance for Sober Housing. Massachusetts does not require certification for a sober home to operate lawfully, and an uncertified house can still be well run. Certification mainly affects whether courts and state agencies can refer someone there directly; it is not itself a measure of a house's day-to-day quality.

Worcester is the seat of Worcester County and the second-largest city in New England, with a dense network of outpatient treatment providers, courts and public transit connecting the city to the rest of central Massachusetts. A resident here has access to a far wider range of recovery resources than most of the county's smaller towns can offer on their own.

Applications go through Lazarus Recovery Services, Inc. directly. Since the house is not certified, the standard pre-move-in questions apply: what the weekly fee covers, how the meeting space is used, whether a manager is on site, and what happens if a resident relapses.

From the Sober Living Operator I have started a series that matches a meeting format I used in the early days of recovery meetings at City Church at Liberty Church. The process was I would go through Proverbs a chapter at a time. For each week it was one Chapter. Out of that chapter I would pull out three words. For those words I did a brief lesson oriented toward Recovery and then open it for discussion or comments, or questions. This can be similar if you all want to participate.
