About Open Doors RI

OpenDoors is a nonprofit organization based in Providence, Rhode Island, dedicated to supporting individuals transitioning from incarceration, addiction, and homelessness. By providing comprehensive services and advocacy, OpenDoors aims to strengthen communities and enhance public safety. ​

Founded in 2003, OpenDoors is led by Co-Executive Directors Nick Horton and Patrick Westfall, both of whom have been with the organization for over a decade. In 2022, Deputy Director Dina Bruce joined the leadership team. The organization is largely staffed by individuals who have overcome histories of incarceration, addiction, and homelessness, bringing firsthand experience to their mission of investing in people rather than prisons.
