About this Recovery House

The New Beginnings Home for Men is a men's sober living home on Enterprise Drive in Mount Gay-Shamrock, West Virginia, in Logan County. Sixteen men live here at $400 a month under Level 3 certification from the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences.

A Supervised Men's Recovery Home in Logan County

Mount Gay-Shamrock sits immediately west of Logan on the Guyandotte River, close enough that the two function as one community. Sixteen beds at Level 3 makes this one of the few supervised recovery programs anywhere in the southern coalfields. The operator runs a women's house of matching size in Logan itself.

Level 3 Recovery Housing and What It Requires

Level 3 describes supervised recovery housing with an organizational structure, administrative oversight and structured daily programming. Certification obliges the program to publish its rules in writing before entry, hold a written relapse and discharge policy, and accept complaints reviewed outside its own management. For a man committing to a structured program in a county with no alternative, those terms are the part worth reading first.

Intake and Monthly Fees

A $100 intake fee, then $400 a month due on the first. The same schedule applies at the operator's women's house.

Medication Support at This Coalfields Sober House

Residents on medication for opioid use disorder are accepted at both addresses.

Logan County and the Southern Coalfields

Logan County runs along the Guyandotte River in southwestern West Virginia, with Logan as the county seat holding the courthouse, Logan Regional Medical Center and Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. Charleston is about an hour and a half northeast and Huntington a similar distance north. The county carries some of the highest overdose rates in the country and very little certified recovery housing, which makes thirty-two supervised beds under one operator a substantial local resource.
