About this Recovery House

Hope for All is a recovery residence for women and children on Pennsylvania Avenue in Charleston, West Virginia, the state capital and seat of Kanawha County. Twenty-eight beds are certified at Level 2 by the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences.

One of West Virginia's Largest Family Sober Living Homes

Twenty-eight beds for women and their children puts this among the biggest family recovery residences in the state. The shortage of certified housing that takes children forces mothers leaving treatment into an impossible choice: enter recovery housing without the children, or keep the children somewhere that is not drug free. Scale is what turns that from a theoretical option into an available bed.

A Fee Structure Built Around Families

A $200 deposit applies, then $100 a week for a participant without children and $125 a week for a participant with children. The twenty-five dollar difference holds regardless of how many children a mother arrives with, which is the point at which most family housing pricing becomes unaffordable.

The Widest Medication Policy in the County

Suboxone, Sublocade, Vivitrol, Subutex and methadone are all accepted. Subutex is excluded by many West Virginia recovery residences, and it is the medication most often prescribed to pregnant and postpartum women, so accepting it matters specifically for the population this residence houses.

Level 2 Certification and Family Recovery Housing

Level 2 describes monitored recovery housing with structured expectations and clinical care from outside providers. Certification requires written disclosure of fees and rules before move-in, a written relapse and discharge policy, a published code of ethics, and complaints reviewed outside the house. Where children live in a residence, an external complaint route carries particular weight.

Charleston, Kanawha County and Family Court

Pennsylvania Avenue runs through Charleston's north side above the Elk River. The city is the state capital and the seat of Kanawha County, holding the county courthouse, the family court, Charleston Area Medical Center and the caseworkers a mother in an abuse and neglect proceeding has to reach. Being in the same city as the court is what determines whether appointments get kept.
