About this Sober House
Butte SPIRIT Men's Recovery Home is a men's sober living home on West Daly Street in Butte, Montana, the seat of Silver Bow County. It was the organization's first house, opening in December 2020, and it holds eight beds. The State of Montana licenses it as a Clinically Managed Low-Intensity Residential service provider at ASAM Level 3.1, so counseling and case management happen where the residents live.
A Men's Sober House on West Daly Street
The home moved to West Daly Street from its original West Galena Street address as the program grew, and it now sits up the hill in Walkerville above uptown Butte. Eight men live there at a time in a mix of private and shared bedrooms, with staff on site around the clock. Bedding, dishes, toiletries and the rest of the household basics come with the bed, and meals are provided through the first month, which removes most of the cost of moving in with nothing.
What an ASAM 3.1 Recovery Residence Provides
A Level 3.1 license is a clinical designation, and it changes what a resident gets. Individual counseling, therapeutic groups and case management are delivered by the operator inside the program, and every resident works an individual treatment plan written with an assigned counselor. The floor is six hours of structured, recovery-related activity each week. Average stay runs three to six months, and residents move through phases that carry increasing privileges. Montana separately requires every recovery residence in the state to register with the Department of Public Health and Human Services.
House Expectations at This Butte Sober Living Home
- Zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use.
- Employment within four weeks of admission.
- A curfew beginning as early as 8:30 in the evening, varying by phase.
- A monthly housing fee of $650, due one week before the end of each month.
- A $200 admission fee, making $850 the total due at move-in.
Residents who complete all three program phases and give three weeks' notice before moving out receive a $200 discharge incentive. First-month financial assistance is available to residents who qualify, and third-party payment arrangements are accepted for some.
Recovery Housing in Butte and Silver Bow County
Butte and Silver Bow County share one government and one set of boundaries, so court dates, benefits appointments, treatment and a job search all fall inside a single jurisdiction. St. James Healthcare, Montana Technological University and the district court are all in the city, and Butte sits where Interstates 15 and 90 cross. People leaving treatment in Dillon, Anaconda and Deer Lodge often land here because southwest Montana's recovery housing is concentrated in this one city.
Moving On From This Men's Recovery Home
The operator runs a second men's residence in Butte, a non-clinical step-down home for men with at least six months of sobriety, and a women's home. A man who finishes the clinical program and still wants a structured house can move into the step-down home without leaving the organization, the city, or the people who already know his history.
