About this Recovery House
LIV Recovery Sober Living – Wright Street is a women's recovery home in St. Louis, Missouri, an independent city that serves as its own county seat. It is operated by LIV Recovery, a St. Louis area recovery housing organization founded by two credentialed peer support specialists.
A Women's Sober House in North St. Louis
The house serves women. Wright Street runs through the near north side of the city, in the older residential blocks above downtown, and the address puts residents inside the city bus network with downtown, the medical corridor and the north side employers all on reachable routes. Metro Transit runs both MetroBus and the MetroLink light rail across the city, and a resident here can hold a job, a court date and an appointment without owning a car.
Peer Support Behind This Recovery Residence
LIV Recovery was built by Cameo Jones and Derrick Jones Sr., both credentialed Missouri Recovery Support Specialists. Peer credentialing is the state's recognized qualification for people who use their own recovery to support somebody else's, and an organization run by people holding it approaches a house differently than a landlord does. The operator provides peer support around the clock across its housing and connects residents to outpatient programming, medication-assisted treatment, life skills work and job placement.
Support for Medication-Assisted Recovery
LIV Recovery works with residents who use medication for opioid use disorder. That acceptance is not universal in sober living, and a woman on prescribed buprenorphine or methadone who loses housing over it can lose the medication along with it. Missouri's Department of Mental Health oversees the state's treatment system, and a recovery residence that accommodates medication keeps a resident's treatment and her address pointed the same direction.
Recovery Housing for Women in the St. Louis Area
St. Louis City is its own jurisdiction, separate from St. Louis County, with its own courts, its own health department and its own housing market. Women's recovery housing in the region is thin relative to demand, and much of it sits in the county and the outer suburbs. A women's house inside the city itself keeps a resident close to the circuit court, the outpatient providers along the central corridor, and the family and children's services that many women in recovery are working with at the same time.
What to Ask Before Moving In
Applications go through LIV Recovery. Worth asking: what the weekly fee covers, what is due at move-in, whether a house manager lives on site, how bedrooms are assigned, what the visitation policy is for children, and what happens after a relapse. Missouri does not license recovery residences, so an operator's written answers are the standard a resident can hold it to.
