About this Sober House
Washington Street is a men's sober living home at 174 North Washington Street in North Attleborough, Massachusetts, in Bristol County. It is operated by the Association for Sober Living, which runs this house as one combined program with its sibling residence next door at 180 North Washington Street.
A Men's Sober House on North Washington Street
This sober house in North Attleborough is one half of a two-house program the Association for Sober Living has run for years under Eamonn Lynch, continuing the organization his father Ron founded. The two adjoining addresses function as one household in practice, sharing the same rules and the same phased structure.
What MASH Certification Establishes
Certification through the Massachusetts Alliance for Sober Housing, the state's affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences, requires a published code of ethics, written disclosure of fees and rules before move-in, a written relapse and discharge policy, and an outside complaint process.
A Phased Peer-Support Program
New residents move through structured peer support, group involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous, and a later mentorship phase as a "Senior Peer" to newer arrivals, with stays running up to a year. Individual and group therapy and legal and family support are also part of the program.
Beyond the House
The Association for Sober Living builds group activities into its program, including softball, cookouts, and an annual canoe trip on the Saco River, giving residents structured social time outside the house itself.
Recovery Housing in Bristol County
North Attleborough sits in Bristol County, giving residents access to job opportunities and outpatient providers in a smaller-town setting near the Rhode Island line.
The Association for Sober Living Inc. gives residents the tools and support they need to become sober. Living in their sober homes has turned the lives of many men around for the better. Upon entering the ASL, the primary focus is integration into a structured living environment. The residents are assisted in utilizing a peer support system made up entirely of fellow addicts in recovery.
Some highlights include:
Individualized Treatment - Length of substance abuse and addiction treatment varies with the needs of each resident. The resident may stay in their Recovery Houses up to one year if needed.
Sober Social Skills Enhancement - Residents are encouraged to participate with one another in social events such as softball, basketball, cookouts, weight lifting, camping, etc. The ASL sponsors a yearly canoe trip on the Saco River for all residents and graduates.
