The Nextep's Four-Stage Recovery Model
The Nextep builds every residence around the same four-stage self-empowerment process: structure, commitment, motivation and service. Practically, that means a weekly chore list, a minimum number of Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings, a nightly curfew, and a requirement that residents work, look for work, or attend school. Random drug testing holds the arrangement together.
