About this Recovery House

Project SOAR Recovery Residences - NW 15th Avenue is a men's recovery home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in Broward County. The 33311 address sits among the operator's densest group of houses, in the residential blocks north of Broward Boulevard.

House Culture in This Men's Sober Living Home

Residents share the chores and the upkeep, which sounds like a small thing and is the mechanism most peer-run recovery housing actually runs on. A man who has spent months in treatment being managed arrives with the muscle for structure and none of the practice at self-direction. A house where the kitchen gets cleaned because the people living in it clean it rebuilds that in weeks. Everyone in this house is a man, and the expectations are the same for all of them.

A Men's Sober House North of Broward Boulevard

Northwest 15th Avenue is a residential street in the heart of the operator's Fort Lauderdale cluster, with several other houses within a few blocks. Broward Boulevard and Sunrise Boulevard carry the bus routes, downtown is a short ride east, and the western Fort Lauderdale employment corridors are closer still. The address supports a resident who is working, going to meetings and doing both without a car.

Recovery Housing Options Across Fort Lauderdale and Margate

Thirteen addresses carry this operator's name across two Broward County cities. That scale gives a resident somewhere to go if a household is a poor fit, and it gives the operator enough houses to separate people who should not be living together. Both effects show up in the first ninety days, which is when most placements either hold or fail.

Certification and What It Would Add to a Florida Sober House

Certification through the Florida Association of Recovery Residences is voluntary in Florida, and it adds documentation a resident can hold the house to: fees and rules disclosed before move-in, a written policy for relapse and discharge, an ethics code, and complaint review from outside the operator. Two other Florida credentials sound similar and certify different things. A treatment license covers a clinical program, and the Certified Recovery Residence Administrator credential belongs to an individual. Ask which the operator holds and for which address.

More on The Sober House Others who took the first step I have been living at Project SOAR on 16th Court since March 2016. I am paying only $525 per month for a room with another person. I have found my experience to be a very happy one. I am not bothered by anyone and am allowed to come and go. I did, in fact, relapse in August, but I was allowed to go to meetings to make up for my misdemeanor. I am not a felon so I don't have to report to probation. However, I do have a problem with suicidal tendencies when things don't go so well. In Project SOAR, I get all the help I need. I sleep better and am generally a happy person here. I went on a program and was included in activities here at Project SOAR. I do recommend it here. -Mitchell M.
