UTurn Recovery Housing is a sober living operator in Weber County, Utah, founded by Justin Jensen to address what Weber Human Services identified as a long-standing shortage of structured recovery housing in the Ogden area.

A Weber County Recovery Housing Provider

Jensen started UTurn Recovery Housing with a single South Ogden property and expanded it in December 2022 with a second, larger site on Lincoln Avenue in Ogden, after working through local resistance to the project. Between the two properties, the operator runs roughly 60 beds of sober living capacity across the county.

Two Properties in Weber County

UTurn Recovery Housing operates three residences across two properties:

• UTurn Recovery Housing Burch Creek, a 30-bed coed residence in South Ogden.
• A four-unit family support building on Lincoln Avenue in Ogden.
• A 24-bed men's and women's residence, also on Lincoln Avenue in Ogden.

The Lincoln Avenue property combines family housing and single-occupant units for men and women on one site, while the South Ogden property runs as a single larger coed house.

Housing for Families and Individuals

Reserving dedicated units for families sets UTurn Recovery Housing apart from operators that house only single adults. Keeping parents with their children during recovery removes a barrier that otherwise forces a choice between stable housing and staying together as a family.

Licensed Under Utah's Recovery Residence Rule

Utah requires operators of this housing type to hold a license from the Utah Department of Health and Human Services Office of Licensing, under Utah Code 26B-2-117 and the Recovery Residence Services rule. Utah has one regulator statewide and no tiered certification system.

Serving Ogden and South Ogden

Weber County's population is concentrated in and around Ogden, the county seat, and UTurn Recovery Housing's two properties sit within a few miles of each other, giving residents access to the same job market, transit and treatment providers regardless of which site they are placed at.
