Housing Built for Families in Recovery

This Lincoln Avenue property sets aside four individual units specifically for families, a rarer arrangement in sober living than single-occupant or shared bedrooms. Keeping parents and children together during recovery removes one of the hardest tradeoffs people otherwise face: choosing between getting housing and staying with their kids. Founder Justin Jensen opened this Ogden facility in December 2022 after facing local resistance to the project, a hurdle he worked through by addressing misconceptions about what recovery housing actually looks like day to day.

How Utah Regulates This Kind of Housing

Recovery residences in Utah are licensed by the Utah Department of Health and Human Services Office of Licensing, under Utah Code 26B-2-117 and the Recovery Residence Services rule. Utah has a single regulator for this category and no certification levels.

One Property, Two Programs

The same Lincoln Avenue address also houses UTurn Recovery Housing's separate men's and women's units, so families living in this building share a property with, but not a unit alongside, single residents in the operator's standard recovery housing track.

Ogden and Weber County

Ogden is the seat of Weber County and the region's largest employer and service hub, giving families here access to schools, medical care and outpatient treatment without leaving the city. UTurn Recovery Housing also operates a second property in nearby South Ogden, extending its footprint across the county.
