Unity Sober Living

About Unity Sober Living

Unity Sober Living is a sober living operator serving the Denver metropolitan area of Colorado, running seven certified recovery houses for men across Denver, Lakewood, Arvada, Englewood and Bow Mar. Matt Neptune and Devin Lacey lead the organization.

A Denver Metro Recovery Housing Provider

The company houses men in recovery and nothing else, which is a narrower offer than most Colorado operators make and a clearer one. Every household runs on the same expectations, so a resident who moves between addresses is not learning a new rulebook. Clinical treatment stays with outside providers. What the operator supplies is a stable address, a household of people in the same position, and enough daily contact to notice when someone is struggling.

Seven Sober Homes on the West and South Sides

The houses are concentrated where most of the metro's entry level employment and outpatient capacity sits:

  • A south Denver house, listed in the state directory as Tufts.
  • A Lakewood house on the Green Mountain side, listed as Jewell.
  • Further metro addresses listed as Gray and 67th.
  • Central Denver addresses listed as Acoma, Bates and Virginia.
  • Houses serving the Englewood and Bow Mar side of the south metro.

The cluster is tight. Changing houses inside the network leaves a resident's job, bus route, outpatient provider and probation officer where they were.

Structure Across Every Sober Living Home

The program is the same at each address. Residents attend a minimum of three twelve step meetings a week, a weekly house meeting, and daily check ins with the team, and the houses attend community events together. Drug and alcohol screening is unscheduled. Accountability of that kind is the whole argument for structured recovery housing over a cheap room, and it is also the reason a resident who wants to be left alone should look elsewhere.

Certification Behind These Recovery Homes

All seven residences appear as certified in the Colorado directory maintained by Ohio Recovery Housing - Colorado, the certifying body approved by the state Behavioral Health Administration. Certification binds each house to a published code of ethics, to written disclosure of fees and rules before anyone signs, to a written relapse and discharge policy, and to a complaint process outside the household. Since House Bill 19-1009, state referrals and state funding depend on that certificate, which is why treatment providers and courts work from the directory.

The directory also records the houses as not faith based, records medication assisted treatment as supported, and records rent subsidy as available. Family housing is not offered.

Reaching This Sober Living Operator

Applications go through the company, which decides which house has a bed and which household fits. At the operator level the useful questions are about the business: how long it has housed men in the Denver metro, whether it accepts referrals from treatment providers and courts, how deposits are handled and refunded, and how a complaint moves past a house manager to the operator and then to the certifying body.
