About this Recovery House
Unity Sober Living - Tufts is a men's sober living home in Denver, Colorado, in Denver County. It is one of seven certified recovery houses Unity Sober Living runs across the Denver metropolitan area.
A Men's Sober House in Denver, Colorado
Denver is both the state capital and a county in its own right, which concentrates an unusual amount into one municipal boundary. Courts, state offices, county human services and the densest set of outpatient providers in Colorado all sit inside the city. Light rail and the bus grid reach most of it, so a resident without a car can still keep appointments across town.
The house serves men only. One gender across the bedrooms, the bathrooms, the common rooms and the weekly meeting means one set of expectations covers everyone under the roof, and nobody is the only man in a mixed building. The street address is not published; placement runs through the operator, which decides which of its houses has an open bed.
Structure and the Weekly Rhythm in This Sober House
Unity Sober Living runs the same expectations at every address, and they are the reason a resident chooses structured recovery housing over a room in a shared rental:
- A minimum of three twelve step meetings each week.
- A weekly house meeting every resident attends.
- Daily check ins with the Unity Sober Living team.
- Community events the houses attend together.
- Unscheduled drug and alcohol screening.
The daily check in is the piece that separates this from a boarding house. Someone talks to every resident every day, which is how a household notices a bad week before it becomes a relapse. Unscheduled screening backs it up, and the twelve step requirement means residents are out of the house and in rooms with other people in recovery several times a week.
What Colorado Sober Living Certification Establishes
Certification is the most checkable fact on this listing. Ohio Recovery Housing - Colorado is the certifying body approved by Colorado's Behavioral Health Administration, and the certificate it issues is a set of obligations a resident can hold the house to: fees and rules handed over in writing before move in, a code of ethics the operator has signed, a written relapse and discharge policy, and a complaint route that does not end with the house manager. Certification says nothing about whether a particular household suits a particular person. It does create a record, and a record is what a family comparing options from out of state can actually check.
Where This Sober Living Operator Runs Its Homes
The houses sit across the west and south sides of the Denver metropolitan area: south Denver, Green Mountain and two more addresses in Lakewood, Arvada, Englewood and Bow Mar. A resident who needs a different household, a quieter street or a shorter commute to work can move inside the network without a new application or a new deposit.
Matt Neptune and Devin Lacey lead the organization. The state directory records the houses as not faith based and rent subsidy as available, and family housing is not offered at any of them.
Medication Supported Sober Living
This residence is recorded in the state directory as supporting medication assisted recovery. Buprenorphine, methadone and naltrexone are all prescribed treatments for opioid use disorder, and housing that accommodates them lets a resident stay on a plan a prescriber built. Anyone arriving on a medication should still confirm how doses are stored and whether the house requires proof of a current prescription, because those details vary between operators even when acceptance does not.
What to Ask Before Moving Into This Sober House
Certification obliges written answers to all of these before a resident signs anything:
- The move in cost, including any deposit, and when it is refundable.
- Whether employment or school is required, and how soon.
- How drug and alcohol testing is run and how often.
- The curfew and the guest policy.
- What the discharge policy says in writing.
Our Process
We are a 12-step based program that is rooted in the principles behind 12-step programs & active participation in this community is required.
Our goal is to help our residents recover from their addiction through a program built on unity.
Unity prides itself on having strength in numbers. Our homes include on-site house managers who provide oversight in the home as well as advice and support when needed.
The residents we serve are never alone and are required to walk this journey of recovery with other residents. We have 2 house meetings weekly to check in with residents, and all residents are drug and alcohol tested to live in the home.
