About Journey to New Life

Journey to New Life is a sober living operator and reentry organization based in Kansas City, Missouri, running certified recovery housing in Jackson County. Co-founded by Sr. Rose McLarney, it operates two women's residences with a combined 36 beds, both certified with the Missouri Coalition of Recovery Support Providers.

A Kansas City Reentry Housing Provider

Journey to New Life builds its program around removing the practical barriers that pull someone back after incarceration or treatment: no stable address, no documents, no job. Housing is the base the rest of the model is built on, and the organization pairs it with case management that runs through the transition to independent living and beyond.

Two Sober Living Homes in Kansas City

Journey to New Life runs two residences:

• Journey House, in Kansas City, for women.
• Peace House, in Kansas City, for women.

Both are certified and both run the same four-to-six-month peer-led structure, so a transfer between them keeps the program consistent.

MCRSP Certification on Both Houses

Missouri does not require certification, and Journey to New Life carries it on both residences through the Missouri Coalition of Recovery Support Providers, the state's NARR affiliate. That commits the organization to a published code of ethics, disclosed fees and rules, and a complaint process outside the house on every address it runs.

A First Stop for Reentry Needs

Beyond housing, Journey to New Life runs a First Stop service for clothing and vital documents, employment services with employer partnerships, and peer support groups. Sr. Rose McLarney frames the mission as sealing the cracks people otherwise fall through in the first weeks after release.

Serving Kansas City and Jackson County

Both houses sit inside Kansas City, the seat of Jackson County and the largest employment and service center in western Missouri, which keeps residents close to courts, outpatient providers and entry-level jobs during the hardest stretch of reentry.
