About Homeward Pikes Peak

Homeward Pikes Peak is a sober living operator in Colorado Springs, Colorado, running a cluster of recovery homes for men, women and mothers with young children in El Paso County. The nonprofit has provided housing and recovery services in the Pikes Peak region since 2002.

A Colorado Springs Recovery Housing Provider

Homeward Pikes Peak grew out of work with people experiencing chronic homelessness in Colorado Springs, and its housing programs still center on that population: residents typically arrive with both an active substance use disorder and a documented gap in stable housing. The organization reported serving more than 800 individuals and families in 2021 across its full range of services, of which sober living housing is one part.

Three Sober Homes on One Campus

Homeward Pikes Peak operates three recovery residences on its Bijou Street campus in central Colorado Springs:

  • Harbor House Recovery, a men's transitional home with room for up to 20 residents.
  • Project Detour, a nine-bed residence for women.
  • Bloom House, a residence for pregnant women and mothers with one child under five.

Keeping all three on one campus means a shared set of case managers, recreation space and outpatient connections serves the whole population the operator houses, whatever a resident's household looks like.

Serving Men, Women and Families in Recovery

Each Homeward Pikes Peak residence is built around one specific population, not a single mixed household. Men apply to Harbor House Recovery, women without children apply to Project Detour, and pregnant or parenting women apply to Bloom House. That separation lets the operator write program requirements, such as employment timelines and urinalysis policies, around what each group actually needs.

Structured, Fee-Based Recovery Housing

All three Homeward Pikes Peak sober homes charge a $650 monthly program fee and require residents to work toward employment or documented income within the first weeks of moving in. Weekly house meetings, case manager check-ins and outside AA or IOP participation are consistent across the campus, giving a resident moving between programs a predictable set of expectations.

A Housing Provider for the Pikes Peak Region

Colorado Springs is the seat of El Paso County and the largest city in the Pikes Peak region, and Homeward Pikes Peak's client base draws from across that area. Its two decades of continuous operation in the city give it standing with local courts, the Department of Human Services and area treatment providers that a newer sober living operator would still be building.
