Adult & Teen Challenge
About Adult & Teen Challenge
Adult & Teen Challenge is a faith-based sober living operator running two certified recovery residences in Montana, one in Missoula County and one in Yellowstone County. The organization is part of Adult & Teen Challenge PacWest, a regional network of residential recovery and discipleship centers across the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain states, and the national Adult & Teen Challenge organization has run residential recovery programs for more than sixty years.
A Faith-Based Recovery Housing Provider
Adult & Teen Challenge runs a Christian, discipleship-based residential model, not a clinical treatment program. Housing, structure and a Christ-centered curriculum come from the organization itself, and residents keep any outside medical or clinical care separate from the daily program the house runs. Both Montana campuses are single-gender and both are certified through Recovery Access Montana.
Two Montana Campuses
Adult & Teen Challenge operates two residences in Montana:
- The Missoula Women's Campus, west of Missoula, for women.
- The Billings Men's Campus, on King Avenue West in Billings, for men.
The two campuses sit roughly one hundred and forty miles apart, each serving its own side of the state instead of functioning as a single local cluster. A resident referred to either one stays within the same organization and curriculum regardless of which campus fits their gender and location.
A Long-Term, Structured Program Model
Programs run twelve to eighteen months for adults, built around biblical study, work projects, vocational training and a discipleship curriculum. That length and structure separates Adult & Teen Challenge from shorter-stay sober living, and it is a trade a resident and family make deliberately, choosing structure and duration over a faster return to independent living.
Certification Across Both Montana Residences
Both Montana campuses hold certification through Recovery Access Montana, the state's affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences. Certification is voluntary in Montana, and an operator carrying it on every residence it runs has chosen to work inside a published code of ethics and an outside complaint process on both properties, not just one.
Part of a National Network
Montana's two campuses sit inside a much larger Adult & Teen Challenge PacWest network that includes residences across Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Hawaii, and inside the still larger national Adult & Teen Challenge organization. That scale gives a Montana applicant access to a referral network beyond the state if a different regional campus turns out to be a better fit.
Who Adult & Teen Challenge Montana Serves
The two campuses take adults who want a long-term, faith-based residential program over a short stay in lighter-touch sober living. Anyone who needs primary clinical supervision on site is a poor match. Applications go through the organization's national intake process, which places a prospective resident at the campus matching their gender, regardless of which side of Montana they are coming from.
