About this Recovery House

Onyx 414 is a certified recovery residence in New Richmond, Wisconsin, in St. Croix County, run by Onyx Sober Living for nine residents.

Why an Onyx Sober House Carries a Number Instead of a Name

Every house in this network is identified by a number, and Onyx 414 is the third of the three in New Richmond. The convention exists because Wisconsin publishes no street address for a recovery residence through either of its two state lists, so the operator, the certifying body, the state registry and a referring case manager all need one label that points at one building. When a resident is told which Onyx house has the opening, the number is the answer.

What Certification Buys a Resident of This Sober Living Home

The Wisconsin Association of Sober Housing lists this house at NARR Level II. Nothing in Wisconsin law requires that. What the certification does is convert house practice into obligation. The fee schedule and the rules have to be in the applicant's hands before a signature. The relapse and discharge policy has to exist on paper, and that document decides what happens on the worst night a resident will have there. A complaint about the house is heard by someone who does not work for the house. Level II adds that the housing is peer-managed with a structured week and that treatment comes from outside providers.

Nine Beds, and Medication Accepted in This Recovery Home

The house is registered with the state for nine residents and accepts people taking medication for opioid use disorder. Both facts sit on the public registry entry Onyx filed in December 2024. A nine-bed household is large enough to carry a real house meeting and small enough that a resident is known by name in the first week.

Recovery Housing in a County Seated at Hudson

St. Croix County seats its courts and county offices in Hudson, on the river. New Richmond, to the north, carries a hospital, a school district and the everyday services a resident needs close by. That split matters to someone holding a job and a court obligation at the same time: two towns, one county, and the whole of it inside the St. Croix Valley within reach of the Twin Cities labor market.

Eight Onyx Recovery Homes Across Three Counties

Onyx Sober Living runs three houses in New Richmond, two in Somerset, two in Menomonie and one in Amery, spanning St. Croix, Dunn and Polk counties. The Onyx Foundation behind the housing also runs re-entry programming, advocacy for improved recovery services and public education on addiction. A resident who needs a different household later is asking inside a network that already knows him.
