Onyx Sober Living

About Onyx Sober Living

Onyx Sober Living is a sober living operator working across St. Croix, Polk and Dunn counties in western Wisconsin, running eight recovery residences under the umbrella of the Onyx Foundation.

A Recovery Housing Operator for the St. Croix Valley

Onyx Sober Living exists to house people in early recovery, and the Onyx Foundation behind it describes its broader mission as providing safe, sober housing alongside re-entry programming, advocacy for improved recovery services and public education on addiction. The housing itself is the part most residents interact with day to day, and it is spread wide for an operator of its size.

Eight Sober Homes Across Three Counties

The network includes three houses in New Richmond, two in Somerset, two in Menomonie and one in Amery. That footprint covers St. Croix County's largest towns along with a single outpost in neighboring Polk County and a cluster in Dunn County to the east. Each house carries its own number in the operator's naming system, from Onyx 323 to Onyx 1620, which is how a resident, a referral source or a certifying body tells one Onyx address from another without a published street.

WASH Certification Across Most of the Portfolio

Six of the eight Onyx houses carry certification through the Wisconsin Association of Sober Housing, the state's affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences. WASH certification is voluntary in Wisconsin, so an operator that has put most of its homes through the process has chosen to work inside a published code of ethics and accept outside review.

Serving the St. Croix Valley and Chippewa Valley Regions

New Richmond, Somerset and Amery sit in the St. Croix Valley, close to the Minnesota border and the Twin Cities metro, while Menomonie anchors the Chippewa Valley region around Dunn County. Concentrating homes in this stretch of western Wisconsin means a resident who needs to change houses within the Onyx network can usually do it without leaving the corridor of towns they already know.

Recovery Housing for Western Wisconsin

People referred into Onyx housing are typically leaving detox, residential treatment or incarceration and need a stable address while they rebuild a daily routine. Applications and occupancy inquiries go through Onyx Sober Living directly, and a resident who is not a fit for one house has seven other Onyx addresses in the same part of the state to be considered for instead.
