About this Recovery Home

The Landing at Front Royal is a men's sober house on South Royal Avenue in Front Royal, Virginia, the county seat of Warren County in the northern Shenandoah Valley. The Warren Coalition operates it as a certified Level Two recovery residence, and at thirteen beds it is the largest of the organization's three houses.

Thirteen Beds and How the Rooms Are Arranged

The house holds up to thirteen men. Most bedrooms are shared two to a room. Four single rooms are available at a higher rate, and there is one triple. A house manager who is also a Peer Recovery Specialist lives on site. Rent is $232 a week, which the operator states covers the manager's salary as well as the bed, and the average stay runs six to nine months. Published room configuration is rare in this field, and it lets a man decide in advance whether he wants a roommate, is willing to pay for privacy, or can live in a triple for less friction than a house with no options at all.

Qualifying for This Men's Recovery Home

Four conditions govern moving in and staying, and the Coalition publishes them plainly: continue with outpatient treatment, which may include Medication Assisted Recovery, Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous or counseling; arrive on a referral from a treatment facility; comply with regular drug screening; and obtain and keep employment. Men referred by drug court may carry different requirements, and the Coalition works with them case by case to meet the conditions. Medication Assisted Recovery being named outright means a resident on a prescribed medication for opioid use disorder is not risking his housing by continuing it.

What the House Provides in Daily Terms

Common areas include a kitchen and a gathering space with a television, and the men have a grill and a fire pit outside. Workout equipment is on site. Security cameras are installed. In-house group meetings are held at the house, the Coalition supplies transportation as available to work and to medical appointments, and it provides help with job placement and resume building along with counseling from a substance misuse counselor and group excursions. The address is within walking distance of downtown Front Royal, so the employment requirement is realistic for a man arriving without a vehicle.

Certification and Level Two Sober Living in Virginia

Certification is compulsory for Virginia recovery residences, and operating without it is a Class 1 misdemeanor. This house is accredited through the Virginia Association of Recovery Residences and listed at Level of Support 2, the monitored tier. Level Two describes what the operator publishes: written expectations, a manager living under the same roof, peer accountability carrying the daily work and clinical care delivered by outside providers. Certification adds obligations a resident can rely on, including fee and rule disclosure in writing before move-in and a complaint route outside the house.

Recovery Housing in Front Royal and the Northern Shenandoah Valley

Front Royal is the seat of Warren County, so the courts, the county offices and local social services sit inside the same town as this address. The town stands at the confluence of the two forks of the Shenandoah River and the northern entrance to Shenandoah National Park, on Interstate 66 roughly seventy miles west of Washington. Winchester and its regional medical center are a short drive north. Recovery housing in this part of Virginia is thin on the ground, and a certified house inside the county seat gives a resident court access, employment and treatment within one town.

One Application, Two Men's Sober Houses

The Warren Coalition runs two certified men's residences in Front Royal and one for women, and applications go to the organization instead of the house. A man is considered for whichever men's house has a bed, which is the practical advantage of applying to an operator. Behind the houses sits a countywide organization with thirty years of work in Warren County, running peer recovery services, substance misuse assessment and treatment, regional jail reentry services and youth prevention programming.
