About this Recovery Home

VFOR Essex Women Unit 2 is a women's recovery home in Essex Junction, Vermont, in Chittenden County, operated by Vermont Foundation of Recovery. It is the newest of the operator's ten homes, a four-bedroom, two-bathroom house at Fort Ethan Allen with two singles and two doubles for six women, opened alongside a set of transitional beds.

The Newest Women's Recovery Home in the Network

This unit was the tenth address the operator brought online, and it added both residence beds and transitional beds at the same time. The pairing matters to a woman thinking a year ahead. The step from a shared bedroom to her own space does not have to mean leaving the organization, the city or the people who know her recovery. The street address is not published, and placement runs through the operator.

Operated by a Certified Vermont Recovery Housing Provider

Vermont Foundation of Recovery holds certification from the Vermont Alliance for Recovery Residences across the homes it runs. Vermont's certification is voluntary and is granted address by address, so a woman applying to this specific unit should ask the operator where it stands. The operator-level commitment is still substantive: a published code of ethics, written disclosure of fees and rules, annual inspection and an external complaint route.

Sober Living in the Essex Junction and Winooski Corridor

Fort Ethan Allen straddles the edge of Essex and Colchester, minutes from Winooski and a short bus ride from Burlington. Essex Junction has been a city since 2022 and carries its own downtown, employers and Amtrak stop. For a resident without a car, that combination of a quiet residential setting and a real transit connection to Chittenden County's hospitals, employers and recovery centers is the point.

What This Essex Junction Sober House Expects

Members commit to twenty hours a week of work, school or volunteering, to recovery meetings, and to house rules consistent across the operator's addresses. Prescribed medications are accepted, including medication for opioid use disorder. Dues are charged weekly with a one-time fee at the start of membership.
