About this Sober House

Ground Zero is a men's sober living program in Helena, Montana, the state capital and seat of Lewis and Clark County, operated in partnership with The Salvation Army.

A Men's Sober House Built to Grow

Ground Zero serves men only, and the program was designed to expand over time to serve as many as twelve residents as it establishes itself. That growth model means intake and structure are built to scale, and the partnership with an established organization gives the program a base of counseling, treatment access and other resources beyond what a standalone house could offer on its own.

A Partnership With an Established Social Service Provider

The Salvation Army has operated in Helena for well over a century, running shelter, case management and community programs alongside Ground Zero. That existing infrastructure, including its corps building on Hudson Street, gives residents access to services and staff already working in the community.

Registered Under Montana's Recovery Residence Law

Every recovery residence in Montana must register with the Department of Public Health and Human Services under Senate Bill 94, whether or not it also holds voluntary certification through the state's NARR or NSLA affiliates. Ground Zero's registration is what makes it a matter of public record for a family or a court checking on the program.

Recovery Housing in Montana's Capital

Helena is west-central Montana's seat of state government, and that concentration of courts, state agencies and health services gives a men's sober house here reach a smaller Montana town cannot match. Residents at Ground Zero have the Lewis and Clark County courts, outpatient providers and Helena's broader social service network within a short distance.

Reaching Ground Zero in Helena

Contact goes through The Salvation Army's Helena corps. Worth asking directly: current availability as the program grows toward its twelve-bed goal, what counseling and treatment access is included, and how referrals from courts or treatment providers are handled.
