About this Recovery House
The H.O.U.S.E. – Burns is a coed sober living home in Webb City, Missouri, in Jasper County, operated by The H.O.U.S.E., Inc. alongside its other recovery homes in the Joplin area.
Sober Living for Men and Women in Webb City
The Burns house takes both men and women. A single-gender house answers one question for an applicant and a coed house answers a different one: whether a bed is available now and whether the household can absorb somebody who arrives with nothing. Webb City is a town of roughly 13,000 with an ordinary residential street grid, sidewalks, corner churches and a school district, and a recovery home here reads as a house on a street.
What a Peer-Run Recovery Residence Does
The value of this kind of housing is unglamorous. It supplies an address a person can put on a job application, a bed nobody can take away for the price of a weekly fee, and housemates who are doing the same thing at the same time. The H.O.U.S.E., Inc. has been running that model since 1996 with people who came out of addiction themselves in charge of it. Nobody delivers therapy on site.
Medication and Treatment Alongside This Sober House
Residents in recovery housing usually carry an outside treatment relationship, and in this region that means an outpatient provider in Joplin, a prescriber, or a program tied to a court referral. Any applicant taking buprenorphine, methadone or naltrexone should confirm the house policy in writing before moving in, because acceptance is not uniform across Missouri recovery housing and losing the bed can mean losing the medication with it. Missouri's Department of Mental Health maintains the state's treatment and licensure information.
The Joplin Metro as a Recovery Housing Market
Southwest Missouri's recovery housing is concentrated in the Joplin and Webb City corridor because that is where the work, the hospitals and the meetings are. Jasper County runs its courts from Carthage and its commerce from Joplin, and Webb City sits between the two on Route 171. Somebody leaving treatment in a rural county nearby generally has to move to this corridor to find a sober house at all, and Webb City is the cheapest end of it.
Applying for a Bed at This Recovery Home
The operator handles intake for all of its houses and decides which one fits. Useful questions: what the weekly fee is, what is owed at move-in, whether a manager lives in the house, what the curfew is, and how quickly a resident is expected to be working. Getting those answers in writing before signing is the single best protection available in a state where recovery residence accreditation is voluntary.
