About this Sober House

Maverick House is a certified sober living home for men on Chelsea Street in East Boston, Massachusetts, in Suffolk County. AmericaSober opened the property in 2009, its first house, and holds NARR Level II certification through the Massachusetts Alliance for Sober Housing for the residence.

A Men's Sober House Steps From the Blue Line

Maverick House is a converted triple-decker a short walk from the MBTA's Blue Line in East Boston, giving residents a direct subway connection into downtown Boston without needing a car. Single and double occupancy rooms are available, and a live-in house manager conducts random drug testing.

Where AmericaSober Began

A father and son opened Maverick House in 2009, and it became the founding property of what grew into AmericaSober's four-house network. That history makes it the operator's most established address, with more than a decade of continuous operation behind it.

What MASH Certification Establishes

Certification through the Massachusetts Alliance for Sober Housing commits AmericaSober to a published code of ethics, written disclosure of fees and rules before move-in, and a relapse and discharge policy on file for the house. It also opens Maverick House to a complaint process outside the operator itself.

East Boston's Transit Access

East Boston sits across the harbor from downtown Boston but connects to it directly by subway, putting Maverick House residents within reach of the city's job market, courts and outpatient providers without the cost of living in Boston proper. Suffolk County concentrates a large share of the state's entry-level jobs and treatment infrastructure in a small area.

AmericaSober's Massachusetts Houses

Maverick House is one of four sober living homes AmericaSober runs in Massachusetts. Summer House, in Lynn, and Soberfit, in North Falmouth, both serve men, and Campbell House, in Revere, serves women, giving the family-run operator coverage across Greater Boston and Cape Cod.

Sober living homes are group residences for people who are recovering from addiction. In most instances, people who live in sober homes have to follow certain house rules and contribute to the home by doing chores. Most importantly, residents must stay sober throughout their stay in the home. OneSober OneSober is dedicated to assisting men and women in their journey of recovery. If you are serious about your sobriety and want a safe and friendly place to continue your recovery, you will find it here. We are all related through a common disease and a deep desire to establish a new life based on self respect, integrity and dedication to substance free living while helping others. We are a place for you to develop coping skills that will help you master the social and professional demands of society. We are a place for you to find peace and safety to function in a drug and alcohol free environment and you need to care for the house and yourself accordingly. You are responsible for your own actions. Accountability is a common value shared by the entire community. Willingness and cooperation are the basic requirements shared by all members. The goal of OneSober is to be a zero tolerance community. That means if you make a decision to use alcohol or illegal drugs/substances, without a verifiable clinician's prescription, you will be subject to termination of your membership and immediate expulsion for the safety of yourself and the other members of the community. House members support each other like a family, that is, a close group of individuals living and working toward a common goal: continued sobriety. You are responsible for maintaining an understanding of the defined rules, requirements, and practices necessary to ensure a clean and sober environment. We expect members to attend school, work or do a combination of these things, which consists of a full day's activities. Recovery is the #1 priority above all else. We recommend that you attend A.A., N.A. or 12 STEP, religious meetings or clinical group therapy at least twice a week, have a sponsor and be working on your recovery because sobriety is our primary purpose.
