About this Recovery House

Patty's Place Transitional Housing is a women's recovery residence on Frankford Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland. The house sits in Baltimore City, an independent city that belongs to no Maryland county, on the northeast side of town where Frankford runs between Belair Road and Moravia Road.

A Women's Sober House on Frankford Avenue

This recovery home serves women, and a single-gender household settles a great deal for someone comparing options. Bathrooms, house meetings and shared living space are all women's space, and one set of expectations covers everyone under the roof. Frankford Avenue is a residential street of rowhomes and detached houses, the kind of block where a resident can hold a lease-like address without living inside a facility. For a woman leaving detox, residential treatment or a jail term, that ordinary setting is often the point.

Transitional Housing as a Recovery Housing Model

Transitional housing sits between treatment and an apartment of one's own. Residents are expected to be working the practical parts of early recovery: getting to meetings, keeping appointments, finding work, rebuilding the paperwork that a period of active addiction usually destroys. The house supplies the address, the housemates and the structure. Clinical care, when a resident needs it, comes from outpatient providers elsewhere in Baltimore, and residents keep their own prescribers and counselors.

Getting Around From This Baltimore Recovery Home

Northeast Baltimore is served by the MTA's CityLink and LocalLink bus network, and the Belair Road and Harford Road corridors carry the routes most residents need for work and appointments. That matters before a car is realistic. Downtown Baltimore, the Johns Hopkins medical campus and the University of Maryland medical campus are all reachable on transit from this part of the city, which puts most of the region's outpatient capacity, court obligations and entry-level employment inside one fare.

What to Ask Before Moving Into This Sober Living Home

Applications go directly to the operator. The questions worth asking are the ones any woman should put to a recovery residence before she signs: what the weekly fee covers and what it does not, whether a house manager lives on site, how bedrooms are assigned, what happens after a relapse, whether medication for opioid use disorder is accepted, and how long a resident can stay. Maryland's Behavioral Health Administration maintains statewide treatment and recovery resources for anyone still deciding where to start.
