About this Sober House

George Privett Recovery Center for Men is a sober living home in Lexington, Kentucky, in Fayette County. It has run as a men's residential recovery program since 1996 and has produced more than 1,000 graduates, operated by The Hope Center on West Loudon Avenue.

A Men's Sober House With Three Decades of History

George Privett Recovery Center for Men has operated continuously since 1996, making it one of the longer-running men's recovery residences in Lexington. Passing 1,000 graduates over that span means the program has a documented track record that a newer house simply cannot match, and referring courts and treatment centers in the area have had three decades to see how it operates.

Run by an Established Lexington Nonprofit

The Hope Center also operates Ball-Quantrell Jones Recovery Center for Women in Lexington, along with an emergency shelter and recovery programming inside the Fayette County Detention Center. A man referred to George Privett is entering a program backed by an organization with reach well beyond a single address, including outpatient services that can continue after a resident moves out.

What Kentucky's Certification Law Covers

Kentucky requires recovery residences to be certified through the Kentucky Recovery Housing Network, and the law bars state agencies and health providers from referring anyone to an uncertified house. That requirement is a recent one, added on top of programs like this that were already running long before certification became mandatory.

Recovery Housing in Fayette County

Lexington is the seat of Fayette County and Kentucky's second-largest city, with a deep bench of outpatient providers, courts and public transit compared to smaller Bluegrass towns. A men's program with three decades of history in that setting has had time to build referral relationships across the city that a newly opened house has not.

ABOUT Our Sober living recovery home More than half of the homeless population suffers from addiction to drugs or alcohol. Unless their addictions are addressed, they are unlikely to be successful in moving away from homelessness. Since 1996, the Hope Center has operated a highly successful Recovery Program for Men at its facility on West Loudon Avenue. In 2008, the George Privett Recovery Center enabled the Hope Center to expand its men's recovery program to a 110-bed facility down the street from its previous location. Over a thousand men have successfully completed this program.
