What a bed costs in Florida, and what help exists

Sober living in Florida typically runs around $205 a week. Members of an Oxford House split the real cost of running the home, so this house's share is its own — the residents are the only ones who can quote it. Statewide, median gross rent in Florida runs $1,669 a month. That money is administered by Florida Department of Children and Families.

What to know before calling an Oxford House

Oxford Houses are run by their members rather than by staff, self-funding and free of alcohol and drugs. New members are approved by the people already living there, so calling the house is the only way to learn what is actually free.

Recovery housing standards in Florida

Florida does not license this kind of housing. Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR) is the NARR affiliate here, and its certification is voluntary. Certification by the state affiliate and an Oxford House charter are different things; this home holds the latter. You can browse the certified residences in Florida. Residents are covered by the Fair Housing Act federally and by Florida Fair Housing Law (Florida Statutes Section 760.23).
