Cost of recovery housing in Florida

Across Florida, sober living generally runs about $205 a week. An Oxford House does not set a rent — members split what the house actually costs to run, so the figure here is a guide to the market, not to this home. For comparison, median gross rent across Florida is $1,669 a month. Florida Department of Children and Families administers that funding at state level.

The Oxford House model and the resident interview

Oxford Houses are resident-governed homes, funded by an equal share from each resident and abstinence-based by rule. New members are taken on by the members themselves, so the vacancy count reserves nothing.

Recovery housing standards in Florida

Recovery housing in Florida operates without a state licence. Certification is voluntary and administered by Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR), the NARR affiliate for the state. Oxford House charters its own homes, so an Oxford House is usually not on a state affiliate's certified register. A directory of certified residences is maintained for the state. Residents are protected by the federal Fair Housing Act and by Florida Fair Housing Law (Florida Statutes Section 760.23).
