About this Recovery House
Project SOAR Recovery Residences - NW 9th Avenue is a men's sober house in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in Broward County. It sits in the 33311 blocks northwest of downtown, one of several houses the organization keeps within a few minutes of each other, and it has been part of a program that has housed men in Broward County since 2010.
A Men's Sober House Northwest of Downtown Fort Lauderdale
Northwest 9th Avenue runs through a low-rise residential grid a short distance from Broward Boulevard and the Sistrunk corridor. Men live here in a single-gender household, which settles bathrooms, common space and house expectations in one decision. The location does the rest of the work. Downtown Fort Lauderdale, the Broward County Courthouse and the county's main transit hub are all inside a couple of miles, so a court date, a probation appointment and a shift at a downtown job can be reached on the same bus pass.
Fees and What the Weekly Rate Covers at This Sober Living Home
Project SOAR publishes its rates openly, which is unusual enough in Florida recovery housing to be worth checking against anywhere else a man is considering. Weekly fees run between $200 and $250, and monthly rates between $750 and $950. Utilities, Wi-Fi, television, laundry and linens are included at that price, and both private and semi-private rooms exist across the organization's houses. A published number lets someone compare a Fort Lauderdale sober house against his actual paycheck before he moves in.
A Nonprofit Recovery Housing Provider in Broward County
Project SOAR became a nonprofit corporation on February 10, 2025, after fifteen years of operating houses in the area. Nonprofit status changes what happens to money the houses take in and it puts a board between the program and any single owner's decisions. For a resident the practical effect is continuity: the fee schedule, the house rules and the people answering the phone are accountable to something larger than one landlord.
Certification for Florida Recovery Residences
Recovery residences in Florida are certified voluntarily through the Florida Association of Recovery Residences, the only credentialing entity the state's Department of Children and Families has approved for this purpose. Certification binds a residence to a written code of ethics, disclosure of fees and rules before move-in, and a complaint process that reaches past the house. Because participation is voluntary, the absence of a listing proves nothing about a house, and current status is a question to put to the operator directly before signing anything.
More on the sober house
Our program rules were created with the hope that each resident learns to develop self-discipline, accountability, responsibility, and respectability. Following the completion of a 12-Step Program, Project SOAR will facilitate the program participant's transition out of our residence and into permanent housing.
