What sober living costs in Florida, and how residents pay for it

Across Florida, sober living generally runs about $205 a week. Oxford House works on an equal share of what the home actually costs, not a set rent, so treat that as the market rather than this address. Against that, the median gross rent in Florida is $1,669 a month. The agency behind it is Florida Department of Children and Families.

How Oxford House membership works

Oxford Houses are governed by their own residents, supported entirely by the residents' own contributions and substance-free as a condition of membership. New members are interviewed and admitted by the existing membership, so a reported vacancy is a starting point, not a reservation.

Certification and oversight in Florida

No state licence is required to run a recovery residence in Florida. Homes that want certification apply to Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR), the state NARR affiliate. This home is chartered by Oxford House, Inc. rather than certified by the state affiliate, so it will not normally be on the certified list. You can browse the certified residences in Florida. Both the federal Fair Housing Act and Florida Fair Housing Law (Florida Statutes Section 760.23) protect residents here.
