About Thriving United
Thriving United is a peer-led sober living operator in Midland, Texas, running certified recovery housing across the Permian Basin under its Angel Haven Residences program. Co-founders Pat and Jenn Brown built the organization around Pat's own recovery, documented in the film Dancing with a Gorilla.
A Peer-Led Sober Living Operator in Midland
Thriving United describes its mission as helping people heal through peer support, recovery housing and volunteering, treating volunteering as central to the program from the earliest stage of a resident's stay.
Angel Haven's TROHN-Certified Sober Homes
The operator runs two Angel Haven houses in Midland: Angel Haven 1102 for men and Angel Haven 4720 for women, both certified at Level III, the supervised tier, by TROHN, Texas's NARR affiliate.
Support for Medication-Assisted Recovery
Thriving United states that its network includes homes supporting residents on medication for opioid use disorder, describing them as the only such option in the Permian Basin region, a meaningful detail for anyone whose treatment plan depends on staying on a prescribed medication while housed.
A Social Model Built on Peer Governance
Angel Haven's houses run on a social model: residents and peer staff, many in recovery themselves, share responsibility for the household day to day, working alongside NARR's broader standards for that model.
Recovery Housing for the Permian Basin
Midland, the seat of Midland County, anchors the Permian Basin's oil economy alongside Odessa, and that economy supplies the entry-level work Thriving United's residents need while they rebuild a routine.
Who Thriving United Serves
The program serves adults in recovery from substance use disorders across the Permian Basin, including an Emerging Adults track for people 18 to 25 who face higher risk because of their background or circumstances.
