Sober Living PDX

About Sober Living PDX

Sober Living PDX is a sober living operator working across the Portland, Oregon, metro area, with recovery residences in Beaverton, Tigard, Portland and Milwaukie. Its houses span Washington, Multnomah and Clackamas counties.

A Portland Metro Recovery Housing Provider

Sober Living PDX is a housing organization. It supplies furnished rooms, house rules and peer accountability, and clinical care comes from outpatient providers elsewhere in the metro area. Residents keep their own counselors, prescribers and meetings. The operator's job is to hold the housing to a consistent standard from one address to the next, which is the thing a resident notices when moving between houses and the reason a multi-house operator is worth choosing over a single rented room.

Sober Homes Across the Portland Metro Area

The houses carrying the Sober Living PDX name:

  • The Hoop House, on SW 170th Avenue in Beaverton, for men.
  • The Blanton House, on Beaverton's west side, for men.
  • Maplecrest Court, on SW Maplecrest Court in Beaverton.
  • Canyon House, on SW 96th Avenue on Portland's western edge, for women.
  • Tippitt House, on SW Tippitt Place in Tigard, for men.
  • The Beech House, on NE Beech Street in Portland, for men.
  • Cora House, in Southeast Portland, for men.
  • Claybourne House, in Southeast Portland, for women.
  • Cedarcrest House, in Milwaukie, for men.

The spread crosses three counties and both sides of the Willamette. In practice it means a resident whose job moves from a Hillsboro warehouse to an east Portland kitchen can follow the work without leaving the operator.

Men's and Women's Sober Houses Kept Separate

Every residence is single-gender, and the operator runs men's and women's houses as separate households instead of splitting a building. Men have the wider choice, with houses in Beaverton, Tigard, Portland and Milwaukie. Women's beds sit on the west side and in Southeast Portland. Keeping the split at the house level means the rules on guests, bedrooms and common space are written once, for one population, and no resident is the only man or the only woman in a mixed building.

What Residents Agree To at Every Address

The published expectations are the same across the group: zero tolerance for alcohol, drugs and non-prescribed medication, mandatory attendance at the weekly house meeting, no overnight guests, and active participation in recovery through twelve-step meetings, outpatient treatment, employment, school or volunteering. Any resident may request a drug test of any other resident, which moves enforcement into the household. Curfew flexes around work schedules, including night shifts, so a warehouse or restaurant job does not put a man in violation of his own housing.

Monthly Rates and Furnished Rooms in These Recovery Homes

Published monthly rates run from $750 for a standard shared room to $850, with premium shared rooms priced between. Rooms are furnished, and at least one house lists its rate as all inclusive. The narrow spread is the useful part: a resident moving between two Sober Living PDX addresses is not facing a different price structure, and someone budgeting a first month after treatment can plan against a single figure.

Accreditation and Oregon's Voluntary Standard

Oregon does not license recovery residences. The state's voluntary accreditation is administered by the Mental Health and Addiction Certification Board of Oregon, the state's affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences, and it applies to the organization operating the housing. Because the program is optional and no address-level list is published, anyone comparing Portland-area operators should ask directly what an operator holds and read the house agreement and fee schedule before signing.

One Application, Several Recovery Homes

Applications go to Sober Living PDX itself, and an applicant is considered against whatever is open across the group. That is the practical case for a multi-house operator. A man applying in Beaverton may be placed in Tigard or Portland, a fit problem after move-in becomes a transfer instead of an eviction, and the rules and price stay the same at the new address. Vacancy changes weekly, so the operator is the only reliable source on what is open now.
