About Santa Monica, Inc.

Santa Monica, Inc. is a sober living operator in Omaha, Nebraska, providing long-term residential recovery housing for women in Douglas County. The organization runs a halfway house, an intermediate residence and a set of step-down transitional homes under one roof of governance, all of them women only.

A Women's Recovery Housing Provider in Midtown Omaha

The operator works from South 39th Street, in the stretch of midtown between the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Joslyn Castle grounds. Everything the organization runs is built for women with substance use disorders, and the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous sit under the whole program. Practice is trauma informed and strengths based, which shapes how the houses handle the histories most residents arrive carrying.

A Staged Model of Sober Living

The distinguishing feature is the sequence. A woman can enter a 90-day intermediate residential program with primary care attached, move to the long-term halfway house, step down to a three-quarter setting, and finish in supported transitional living. Each stage returns more independence and keeps the same staff, the same organization and the same city. Changing level of support does not mean changing providers, losing a caseworker or starting the explanation over.

Serving Douglas County and the Surrounding Counties

The catchment reaches beyond the city. Women from Douglas, Sarpy, Cass, Saunders and Washington counties are served, which covers the Omaha metropolitan area and the farm country immediately around it. For a woman leaving treatment in a small town in Cass or Saunders County, this is often the nearest women's recovery housing with clinical support attached.

What the Program Includes

Residents receive residential treatment, group and individual therapy, life skills training, medical and psychiatric care, support groups, family education and aftercare. Length of stay in the halfway house runs from six to twelve months. Nebraska certifies no recovery residences, so an operator that publishes its stages, its catchment and its length of stay is offering more to check than most.
