About Next Step Foundation
Next Step Foundation is a sober living operator based in Terre Haute, Indiana, running a continuum of certified recovery housing across Vigo County. The organization is accredited by CARF International and holds Level IV designation on Indiana's DMHA Recovery Residence list for several of the homes it operates.
A Terre Haute Recovery Housing Provider
Next Step Foundation organizes its housing into tiers. Step-down homes serve residents fresh out of residential treatment who still want group living and daily structure. Step-in housing sits at an earlier point in that same path, and step-out housing gives residents nearing independence an apartment-style setting with less day-to-day oversight. Clinical care runs through the organization's own outpatient and intensive outpatient programs, so a resident can move between housing and treatment without changing providers.
Sober Homes Across Terre Haute
Next Step Foundation's Terre Haute housing includes:
- Cornerstone House, a men's step-down residence carrying Level IV designation.
- Esther House, the women's step-down counterpart, also Level IV.
- Jabez House, women's step-in housing.
- Moses House, men's step-in housing.
- Redemption Apartments, on South 7th Street, Level IV.
- Simons Legacy Suites, on South 6th Street, Level IV.
- Solomon House, also on South 6th Street, Level IV.
- Additional step-in and step-out housing operating under the names Isaiah House, Restoration House and Aaron House.
Several of those houses sit within a few blocks of one another on the city's south side, and every address is inside Terre Haute, which keeps a resident's transit routes, outpatient providers and court obligations unchanged if they move between tiers.
DMHA Designation and Recovery Works Eligibility
Indiana requires DMHA designation only if a house takes Recovery Works funding or uses the words "recovery residence" in its marketing, and Next Step Foundation carries that designation at Level IV on Cornerstone House, Esther House, Redemption Apartments, Simons Legacy Suites and Solomon House. The designation ties those homes to a code of ethics under the Indiana Affiliation of Recovery Residences, the state's NARR affiliate, and it is what makes Recovery Works funding available to residents there.
CARF Accreditation Behind the Organization
Next Step Foundation also holds accreditation from CARF International, a body that reviews human services organizations as a whole against published standards for safety, service quality and client rights. That organization-wide accreditation covers the outpatient and intensive outpatient programs Next Step Foundation runs alongside its housing.
A Continuum for Men and Women in Recovery
Next Step Foundation keeps its step-down and step-in housing single-gender, running separate homes for men and women at each tier, while some of its step-out housing is coed. That split lets the organization move a resident between tiers as needs change without asking them to leave the population they started with.
Serving Vigo County and the Wabash Valley
Terre Haute is the seat of Vigo County and the commercial hub of West Central Indiana, built along the Wabash River where Interstate 70 meets U.S. 40. Indiana State University, Union Hospital and the county's courts and outpatient providers are concentrated inside the city, and Next Step Foundation draws residents from across the Wabash Valley into that single service area.
