About Marian House, Inc.
Marian House, Inc. is a Baltimore, Maryland nonprofit operating a certified recovery residence and reentry program exclusively for women.
A Baltimore Women's Recovery Housing Provider
Marian House was founded in 1982 by the Sisters of Mercy and the School Sisters of Notre Dame, growing out of a chaplain's work inside the Baltimore City women's detention center. More than four decades later, the organization has served upward of 4,950 women and their children through housing, case management and clinical care.
A Continuum From Crisis Housing to Independence
The organization runs transitional housing, permanent supportive housing and a scattered site rental assistance program as one continuum, so a woman can move toward independence at her own pace without changing organizations.
Certification Through MCORR
Maryland Certification of Recovery Residences (MCORR) lists Marian House, Inc. among Maryland's certified recovery residence operators under COMAR 10.63.08, which requires a published code of ethics, disclosed fees and rules, and an outside complaint process.
Serving Women Across the Baltimore Metropolitan Area
Based in Baltimore City, the organization sits inside the region's densest concentration of outpatient behavioral health providers and the Johns Hopkins medical system, and its reentry focus connects it directly to the Baltimore City court and detention systems that refer many of the women it serves.
Reaching Marian House
Referrals and applications go through the organization directly. Worth asking: which program a woman qualifies for, whether substance use treatment is required alongside housing, and what documentation reentry applicants need to provide.
