Healing Addiction in our Community
About Healing Addiction in our Community
Healing Addiction in our Community is a sober living operator in Albuquerque, New Mexico, providing recovery housing for adolescents in Bernalillo County. The nonprofit serves young people ages 14 to 20 with substance use disorders, an age band almost no recovery housing provider in the country covers.
An Adolescent Recovery Housing Provider
The age range is the whole point. Recovery housing in the United States starts at eighteen almost without exception, and a fourteen year old with a serious substance problem falls into a gap between the child welfare system and adult treatment. This operator built its services for that gap: medical detox, inpatient transitional living and housing, all for the same age group, all inside one organization. Co-occurring mental health conditions are expected and treated as part of the case.
Accreditation of an Albuquerque Sober Living Operator
The organization holds CARF accreditation. CARF is an independent, international accreditor of health and human services providers, and its process puts surveyors on site to measure a program against published standards for governance, health and safety, service delivery and outcomes, with renewal on a fixed cycle. The accreditation belongs to the treatment program. New Mexico certifies no recovery residences, so for a parent this is the closest thing to external verification available in the state.
How This Recovery Housing Provider Is Funded
It is a nonprofit, it accepts insurance, and it fundraises actively, including an annual celebrity golf tournament. It also maintains a memorial garden for young people it has lost. That last detail says something about how the organization understands its work and its failure rate, and a family evaluating an adolescent program should ask about both directly.
Referrals to an Albuquerque Adolescent Sober Living Operator
Referrals come from families, schools, juvenile courts, hospitals, tribal programs and treatment providers, and the organization runs a published admissions and referral process. The questions to put to it are the ones a parent needs answered before anything else: how schooling continues, how family therapy and visitation are scheduled, what insurance covers and what it does not, how residents are supervised overnight, and what happens when a young person uses during a stay.
