Dante's Place

About Dante's Place

Dante's Place is a nonprofit sober living operator based in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, running licensed recovery houses in Delaware County since 2024.

A Nonprofit Recovery Housing Provider

Dante's Place was founded in 2024 as a Delaware County nonprofit built around a set of core values the organization calls C.A.R.E.: compassion, accountability, respect and encouragement. Its mission is to provide housing and therapeutic support to adults recovering from substance use disorder, and it runs its houses as a structured, peer-managed program built around a live-in House Lead and outpatient treatment.

Three Licensed Sober Houses in Lansdowne

Dante's Place operates three recovery houses in Lansdowne:

  • 38 Oxford Street, for men.
  • 31B South Church Lane, for women.
  • 29B South Church Lane, for women.

One men's house and two women's houses give the organization a small footprint in its first two years, with each house run as a single-gender household.

A Peer-Managed Sober Living Model

Each Dante's Place house is led by a House Lead, a peer with several months of sobriety who lives on site, and residents are expected to participate in outpatient treatment and share household responsibilities. The organization describes sober living as the transitional step between clinical detox and returning home, and its model leans on structure and peer accountability to make that transition hold.

Recovery Housing Licensure Under Pennsylvania's Act 59

All three houses are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, which means the organization's house rules, resident-rights policy and grievance procedure have gone through a state review and the houses accept an ongoing inspection schedule. Pennsylvania licensure is voluntary, so a nonprofit that has licensed its entire portfolio has chosen a higher bar than the law requires.

Delaware County Recovery Housing, With Room to Grow

Dante's Place has stated plans to expand into additional counties across southeastern Pennsylvania in the years ahead, but its current houses are concentrated in Lansdowne, a borough that sits directly on Philadelphia's western border and has its own SEPTA Regional Rail station.

Reaching Dante's Place's Sober Houses in Lansdowne

Applications for any of the three houses go through Dante's Place directly. As a newer nonprofit, it takes referrals from outpatient providers and case managers, and it has stated the same C.A.R.E. expectations apply at every address it runs.
