Horizons is a certified sober living home in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, in Manitowoc County. Lighthouse Recovery Community Center, Inc operates the residence, and it is certified through the Wisconsin Association of Sober Housing, the state's only NARR affiliate.

A Recovery Residence Called Horizons

Horizons is named for what the operator wants the house to represent: forward motion after treatment ends. Residents move in after detox, residential treatment or a period of instability, with peer support and structure standing in for the clinical staff a hospital or a licensed facility would provide.

Certification Through the Wisconsin Association of Sober Housing

The Wisconsin Association of Sober Housing requires a residence to publish a code of ethics, disclose fees and house rules in writing before move-in, maintain a written relapse and discharge policy, and accept complaints from outside the house. Wisconsin does not license recovery residences, so this voluntary certification is the clearest record a resident can check before signing anything.

Grown From a Single Recovery Center

Lighthouse Recovery Community Center opened its original recovery support office in Manitowoc and has since added housing across the city as demand grew, expanding into new buildings to keep pace. Horizons is part of that later expansion, launched as the organization moved from a single support center into a network of certified residences.

Recovery Housing in the Lakeshore Region

Manitowoc sits on Lake Michigan and serves as the seat of Manitowoc County, drawing residents from the smaller Lakeshore communities nearby. Horizons puts them inside a city with its own courthouse, outpatient behavioral health clinics and a hospital system, so day-to-day logistics do not depend on a car or a long drive.

One of Four Lighthouse Homes in Manitowoc

Horizons operates alongside three other certified Lighthouse residences in Manitowoc: Lofts On Marshall, Lofts On 11th and The Port. All four share the same certification, the same recovery-support office and the same referral process, which means a resident who needs a different fit later is choosing among houses the organization already runs.
