About this Recovery House

Lyndahl Recovery Home is a women's sober living home in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the seat of Brown County. It is run by the Jackie Nitschke Center, the Green Bay treatment provider that has worked with people recovering from addiction since 1973, and it carries certification through the Wisconsin Association of Sober Housing.

A Women's Sober House in Green Bay

This home serves women exclusively, and that single fact settles a lot for someone comparing options: house meetings, shared space and the daily routine are built around one population. Green Bay is Brown County's largest city and its transit and service hub, which matters for a resident rebuilding a routine around work, meetings and appointments without a car.

Certification Through the Wisconsin Association of Sober Housing

The Wisconsin Association of Sober Housing is Wisconsin's only NARR affiliate, and certification through it obligates a residence to a published code of ethics, written disclosure of fees and rules before move-in, a documented relapse and discharge policy, and outside review of complaints. None of that guarantees a good fit for any one resident. It does mean there is a record to check, which is not true of every sober house in the state.

One of Three Homes Run by a 50-Year Treatment Provider

The Jackie Nitschke Center has treated addiction in Green Bay for more than fifty years and is the only adult residential treatment center in Brown County certified for co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Its continuum runs from a 28-day residential program through intensive outpatient care, ongoing outpatient therapy and alumni support, and the center funds two full scholarships a month for applicants who cannot otherwise afford treatment. Lyndahl Recovery Home is the housing that follows that continuum once clinical treatment ends.

Recovery Housing for Women in Brown County

Brown County's services cluster inside Green Bay itself: outpatient providers, the county courthouse, area health systems and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College all sit within the city. A resident at Lyndahl can keep a therapy appointment, meet a probation requirement or start a class without leaving the county, which is not something every county in the region can offer.

Choosing Between the Jackie Nitschke Center's Recovery Homes

Lyndahl is one of three certified recovery homes the Jackie Nitschke Center operates in Green Bay. Cornerstone Recovery Home houses men in the same city, and Sandy Fabry Recovery Home is a third residence under the same operator. A woman who needs a different set of housemates later on can ask the same coordinator who placed her instead of starting over with an unfamiliar organization.
