About this Recovery House

Rea of Hope Fellowship Home Main House is a women's recovery residence in Charleston, West Virginia, the state capital and seat of Kanawha County, on Lee Street East. Ten women live here at $133 a week, and it is the founding address of a six-residence portfolio.

The Main House in a Charleston Women's Sober Living Portfolio

Ten beds in a single-gender house is enough for a real household without becoming institutional. Lee Street East runs through Charleston's East End, the district between downtown and the Capitol complex, where most of the operator's other addresses also sit. A woman living here is a short walk from the state Capitol, the East End commercial strip and the bridges into the city center.

What the Weekly Fee Covers

The $133 weekly charge is published as $56 for food and $77 for operating costs, and the food share can be paid with EBT. For a woman leaving treatment with SNAP benefits and no job, that split determines what she actually has to produce in cash each week, which is a more useful number than a headline rent figure.

Certified Recovery Housing for Women in Kanawha County

Certification through the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences commits this house to a published code of ethics, written disclosure of fees and rules before move-in, a written relapse and discharge policy, and a complaint process that runs outside the household. Since 2024, West Virginia has required all recovery residences to register with the state and has tied referrals and public funding to certification.

Charleston's East End and Women's Recovery Homes

The East End holds the Capitol complex, Charleston Area Medical Center's General Division, and a dense grid of older housing served by Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation. The Kanawha County Courthouse and the family court sit a mile west downtown. For a woman managing a custody case, a probation requirement and a job at once, that concentration is why Kanawha County carries the largest share of West Virginia's certified recovery beds.

Moving Through the Rea of Hope Recovery Homes

The organization also runs Sandy's House and four New Life Apartments within a few blocks. A woman who is ready for less structure moves into the apartments without leaving the neighborhood, the operator or the peer group.
